Township of Douro-Dummer – At 11:00 a.m. on March 25, 2020, a state of emergency was declared in the Township of Douro-Dummer in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. This State of Emergency has been declared under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and the Notice of Emergency was executed by Mayor, J. Murray Jones.

At this time, the Township of Douro-Dummer is requesting that residents stay home, practice social distancing and all other necessary safety measures.

“We join the country, the Province and the City and County of Peterborough in this statement of urgency. Douro-Dummer is now in a State of Emergency for what I believe is the first time in our history. Please, let’s take this situation seriously, for yourself, your family and your community.” – Mayor J. Murray Jones

In addition to the postponement of Council meetings and the closures announced last week of all municipal facilities to the public, the Township has suspended operations at the Hall’s Glen Transfer station effective March 24, 2020. There will not be any public access to this facility until further notice. Residents are encouraged to use curbside collection for curbside waste and recycling collection services, which continue to be offered.

Effective Wednesday, March 24th, the Township Municipal Office will remain closed to the public and will be operating with limited staff. Emails can be sent directly to individual staff members or to info@dourodummer.on.ca. Emails and voicemails will be checked regularly and will be returned in a priority sequence.

We will continue to keep the community informed regarding the suspension of services. Please monitor the website for updates and follow our Twitter account @Douro_Dummer.
