On December 21, 2020, the government of Ontario announced a province-wide shut down to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The shutdown started Saturday, December 26, 2020 at midnight, and restrictions will be in place for our region until Saturday, January 23, 2021.

In response to the province-wide shut down, Township facilities are closed to the public or have extra safety restrictions in place:

  • The Douro-Dummer Municipal Office and community centres are closed to the public until January 23, 2021. Residents can still access services from the Municipal Office via phone and e-mail.
  • Council and committee meetings continue to take place on Zoom and are livestreamed via the Township’s YouTube Channel.
  • The Halls Glen Transfer Station remains open with the restrictions that have been in place since June 2020.
  • The Douro-Dummer Public Library continues to be open for curbside contactless service. For more information please visit the library webpage or contact the library directly by e-mail or phone (705) 652-8599.
  • Douro-Dummer Parks remain open; however, the public is strongly cautioned to follow all public health recommendations if visiting a park.
  • There are no washroom facilities available to the public at any Township facility.

The Township continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation through Peterborough Public Health. Public health measures to stop transmission of the virus continue to be encouraged:

  • Stay home and avoid all non-essential gatherings,
  • Limit all non-essential travel,
  • Maintain a physical distance of at least 2 meters,
  • Sneeze and cough into your sleeve or a tissue,
  • Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer,
  • Wear a face covering that covers the nose, mouth and chin when inside or when unable to maintain physical distance, and
  • Self-isolate if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have travelled outside of Canada. A self-assessment tool is available online at covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment.

Smart phone users are also encouraged to download the COVID Alert app.
