The County Waste Management Master Plan provides direction in managing all waste until 2030. The current plan, completed in 2013, will be updated this year (2018).

The updating process began in 2017 with County staff developing a survey for residents to provide feedback. This initial survey produced over 500 respondents and all townships were represented in the responses, including seasonal residents. County staff have been busy this spring collating the results of this initial survey, forming the Waste Management Master Plan Steering Committee and planning the activities for the next few months.

A second survey has been launched, which closes April 30. This short survey is only 2 questions: we want to know what people want for waste management services and how much they are willing to pay to have these services implemented.

The Waste Management Master Plan Steering Committee will be reviewing actions (developed by the committee and from the results of survey 2) to be included in the updated Waste Management Master Plan. Once these actions have been identified and researched, the final survey and public consultation phase including Public Information Centres will be begin. This survey will open at the beginning of July and close at the end of August.

Public Information Centres have been booked for the following:

Friday July 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Keene Community Centre, 24 Fourth Street, Keene, K0L 2G0
Saturday July 7, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Buckhorn Community Centre, 1782 Lakehurst Road, Buckhorn, K0L 1J0

We look forward to meeting residents at the Public Information Centres. The survey will be available at the Public Information Centres as well.

The final survey and Public Information Centres will provide input to the Waste Management Master Plan Steering Committee recommendations for actions to be included in the final updated Waste Management Master Plan.
